Special Event

There are a variety of programmes organized from time to time, which are not only educative and informative, but also inspiring and entertaining. These exhibit variegated colours and wide range of culture and heritage that India possess and which needs proper attention of the Indian citizens to preserve and protect these from vanishing from the scene forever. Some events are held to mark some special occasion or achievement of the Institution.

Bana and Banethi
Date 08-03-2008

The wonderful traditional, but now dying, martial arts of Varanasi, known as Bana (play of sword) and Banethi (play of sticks and ropes with fire), were the points of attraction for the spectators.

The arts of Bana was demonstrated by Shri Madan Lal Yadav and Banethi by Shri Krishna Murari Sharma and his group.

The explanatory note by Dr. N. P. Joshi on the occasion pointed out the practical importance of such games, which was basically meant for both attack and self-defence.
