Description: Dark wooden figure of a Lady (mother-goddess) with a child on lap. She is seated on a high decorated pedestal and wears a three-stringed girdle. The hair, combed back, ends into a 'juda' (tuft); large round ear-rings and flat torque are worn round the neck. Her facial expression has some Greek impact. The wood has developed cracks. This is an extremely rare piece and reported to be from Chandraketugarh, West Bengal as per dealer's information. May be dated in 3rd-2nd century BCE.
