Museum

Inaugurated with Sri Suresh Neotia's personal collection of paintings and artifacts in 1999, the museum houses rare miniatures of Pala, Mughal, Rajasthani, Pahari and other styles. Exquisite metal ware, Persian and Indian textile, coins, sculptures, terracotta and decorative art objects also form part of the museum exhibits. Some outstanding displays are a dated copperplate of King Harshavardhana, gold coins of King Kanishka and Chandragupta-I, the earliest punch-marked coins down to British period, objects obtained from the exploration of the c.8th century BC site of Ramnagar in Varanasi and an exceptional 15th century piece of textile 'Samit' from Eastern India. A Varanasi conclave has on display local art objects and a photo-documentation of rituals and fairs, historic architecture and mural decorations.
